ISLAMABAD, Oct 2 (APP): National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday visited the Press Gallery and Press Lounge to review the election process of the Parliamentary Reporters Association Pakistan (PRAP) and also met with members of the PRAP Election Committee during the visit.
He was accompanied by PPP MNA and party whip Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani, candidates of the PRAP elections, and senior officials of the National Assembly.
Chairman of the Election Committee Tariq Sameer briefed the Speaker on the electoral process and code of conduct during his visit.
Speakers on the occasion, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that PRAP and the Press Gallery are integral components of Parliament, noting that parliamentary reporters play a crucial role as a bridge between the public and the legislature.
Speaker said that parliamentary reporters play a vital role in communicating public concerns and parliamentary proceedings to the people.
He described the smooth and transparent conduct of the PRAP elections as a positive development and expressed satisfaction over witnessing a peaceful electoral process.
He further stated that the election of office bearers through democratic means reflects the true essence of democracy.
Speaker said that parliamentary reporters are highly educated and well-mannered, expressing hope that the PRAP elections will result in the selection of the best representatives.
He congratulated the Election Committee for its services and the successful conduct of the elections and extended best wishes to all candidates contesting the PRAP polls.
The Election Committee thanked the Speaker for the excellent arrangements made by the National Assembly Secretariat for the elections and appreciated the cooperation of the Director General Media and his team.
