ISLAMABAD, Dec 21 (APP):Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Friday called on Speaker Asad Qaiser in his chamber here at the Parliament House.
In the meeting, both leaders had consciences on enactment of legislation and resolving the public issues, a National Assembly Secretariat press release said.
Asad Qaiser congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on his election as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and expressed his confidence that under his leadership the PAC would play its Constitutional role more effectively.
He said the Parliament would become strengthen and process of enactment of effective legislation would be possible with the formation of standing committees.
Asad Qaiser said we had to play bipartisan role for the enactment of effective legislation.
He said coordination between government and opposition was inevitable for promotion of Parliamentary democracy.
He expressed the desire for harmony between treasury and opposition benches and passions to tolerate each other to run the proceeding of the House smoothly.
He expressed the hope that the leader of opposition would play his due role for smooth functioning of the House. He appreciated the positive role played by the opposition in connection of constitution of standing committees.
On this occasion, Shehbaz Sharif assured the speaker for his full cooperation in enactment of legislation and thanked him for issuance of Production Order of Khawaja Saad Rafique on his request.
Appreciating the role of speaker to run the proceeding of the house above the party affiliation, he said speaker’s neutrality increased the dignity of the house.
He further told that his party and members were admirable of your role as the speaker.
He said amicably resolving the matter pertaining to committees is evidence of speaker’s acumen and statesmanship.
