ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP):Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has extended heartfelt congratulations to Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan on being conferred with the Commonwealth Parliamentarian of the Year Award by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) during the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference held in Barbados.
In a felicitation letter, Ayaz Sadiq lauded the achievement as a matter of immense national pride, saying that Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan’s selection as the first-ever Asian Speaker to receive this distinguished honour has brought great prestige to Pakistan and the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab.
He said that the award stands as a testament to Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan’s unwavering commitment to democratic values, parliamentary excellence, and institutional reform.
The Speaker also commended his reform-oriented leadership, particularly his efforts in modernising the Rules of Procedure, strengthening the committee system, enhancing transparency through live streaming of assembly proceedings and promoting inter-parliamentary cooperation through regional conferences.
Ayaz Sadiq said that these initiatives have set new benchmarks in legislative governance and reflect Pakistan’s growing stature in global parliamentary diplomacy.
