ISLAMABAD, Apr 08 (APP):The National Assembly on Wednesday approved two bills with a majority vote, going through them clause by clause.
The bills passed included the Pakistan Infrastructure Development and Assets Management Authority Bill.
The main aim of the Authority is to boost national development by improving the planning, execution, and management of infrastructure projects.
It will oversee project approvals, coordinate and implement development work, and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
The Authority will manage public sector development programs, maintain infrastructure assets, and carry out necessary maintenance to ensure their efficiency and longevity.
It will also handle federal asset management, including land acquisition, allotment, cancellations, and preparing or approving development and site plans as per building and town planning rules.
The Authority will maintain a database of assets, recommend transfers to the government, take possession of federal assets, identify land for project development, and take legal action to secure and recover government property while removing encroachments.
The Carriage by Air (Amendment) Bill, 2026, was also passed by the House.
Additionally, a bill to amend the Special Economic Zones Act, 2012 – The Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill, 2026 – was introduced and sent to a committee for further review.
