NA committee defers decision on PM’s Question Hour

ISLAMABAD, Apr 1 (APP):The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges on Monday again deferred the amendment in the rules of the House related to the Prime Minister’s Question Hour on the first Wednesday once in each session on matters related to overall substantive policy or performance of the government.
The amendment moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan in Rule 69 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 was deferred as the minister was not present in the meeting.
It was the third meeting of the committee held here at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon.
The question of privilege of Faheem Khan, MNA, was regarding alleged misbehaviour and derogatory remarks of Maqsood Raza, SHO and Imdad Khawaja, Investigation Officer, Police Station Defence, Karachi against the member. The matter was referred to the committee on January 30, 2019 and was kept pending till the present meeting. In compliance of the directions of the committee, three officers including Saeed, ASI, Imdad Ali Khwaja SIO and Maqsood Raza SHO were suspended and show cause notices were issued to them and report regarding it was submitted in the meeting. The question of privilege was settled after the action taken by the Sindh Police.
The question of privilege of Abid Raza, MNA was regarding implicating the member in a false politically motivated case in Kakarali Police Station, Gujrat by registering a fabricated FIR against him, and alleged attempt by Mian Tahir Bashir, SP Headquarters and Mian Muhammad Arshad, DSP along with police force to forcibly occupy his property.
The matter was referred to the committee on January 30 and it had sought its report but due to non-presence of the mover, the committee deferred the matter till the next meeting.
The last agenda item of the committee was of the question of privilege of Ali Nawaz Shah, MNA which was regarding non-attendance of telephone calls of the member by the secretaries Revenue, Local Government, Education, Health and Agriculture and General Manager, SSGCL, Karachi and harassment of the member and his voters by Deputy Commissioner Mehdi Shah, Mirpurkhas  and Superintendent of Police Abid Baloch Mirpurkhas. The committee discussed the matter and deferred it for its next meeting and directed Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police, Sindh to appear in person in the next meeting.
Members of National Assembly Ghulam Bibi, Nawab Sher, Khurram Shahzad, Zulfiqar Ali Khan Dullah, Rai Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal, Mian Muhammad Shafiq, Muhammad Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa, Ali Nawaz Shah, Muhammad Sajjad, Chaudhry Armghan Subhani, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Jillani, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Shagufta Jumani and Ali Wazir attended the meeting.
