NA body forms sub-committee on PM’s Question Hour

No talks with India sans Kashmir: Ali

ISLAMABAD, Apr 18 (APP):The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges Thursday unanimously decided to appoint a sub-committee for giving recommendations on the amendment moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan in rule 69 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.
The amendment is related to the Prime Minister’s Question Hour on the first Wednesday once in each session for answering questions on the matters relating to overall substantive policy or performance of the government.
The committee, which met here with Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon the chair, also discussed the question of privilege of Abid Raza, MNA referred on January 31 regarding implicating him in a false politically motivated case in Kakarali Police Station, Gujrat by registering a fabricated FIR against him, and alleged attempt by Mian Tahir Bashir, SP, Headquarters and Mian Muhammad Arshad, DSP along with police force to forcibly occupy his property.
The committee recommended that report of the matter should be submitted to the secretary committee before convening of the next meeting of the committee.
The last agenda item of the meeting was of the question of privilege of Ali Nawaz Shah, MNA regarding non-attending telephone calls of the member by the Secretary, Local Government, Government of Sindh, Karachi and harassment of the member and his voters by the Deputy Commissioner Mehdi Shah, Mirpurkhas and Superintendent of Police Abid Baloch, Mirpurkhas.
The matter was discussed in detail and settled on unconditional apology and assurances given by the concerned officers of the Government of Sindh. In this case, the committee recommended to convene a meeting by the Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Sindh with mover and officers concerned for reaching an appropriate decision. The committee further recommended that if the mover will not be satisfied with the decision he can move a privilege motion for re-consideration of the committee.
