NA approves 147 demands of grant worth Rs 3.127trn
NA body summons TV channel owners, anchors for airing baseless news

ISLAMABAD, June 22 (APP): Rejecting all cut motions, the National Assembly approved all 147 demands of grant amounting to Rs 3,127,036,989,000 for various divisions for the fiscal year 2016-17.

The demands included 79 grants totalling Rs 1,228,153,102,000 for which  there was no cut motion and 68 demands of grant amounting to Rs 1,898,883,887,000 for which cut motions were moved by the parliamentarians.

The demands of grant were presented to the House by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

In total around 1,470 cut motions were submitted by the parliamentarians  from the opposition benches, however all of these were rejected.

The cut motions were mainly moved to slash the grants of Cabinet,
Finance, Foreign, Interior, National Food Security, Water and Power, Petroleum divisions.

Among these demands, the NA approved twenty two demands of grant worth  115,293,115,000 were approved for Cabinet, Establishment, Aviation and other divisions for the fiscal year 2016-17.

The house approved as many as 27 demands of grant worth Rs 1,634,570,512,000 for Finance Division for the fiscal year 2016-17.
Eleven demands of grant worth Rs 98,337,578,000 were approved for
Interior Division for the fiscal year 2016-17 and 4 demands of grant worth Rs 16,077,300,000 were approved for Foreign Affairs Division.

The house approved as many as 2 demands of grant worth Rs 5,231,895,000  for National Food Security and Research (NFS&R) Division and Rs 29,373,487,000 for Water and Power Division for the fiscal year 2016-17.

The demands of grants without any cut motion which the assembly approved  included Rs 2,921,119,000 for Defence Production Division, Rs 41,148,525,000 for Planning and Development Division and Rs 51,307,296,000 for States and Frontier Regions Division (SAFRON).

Grants worth Rs 11,600,778,000 for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan  Division, Rs 865,189,625,000 for Defence Division, Rs 13,113,665,000 for Communication Division, Rs 8,448,123,000 for Information Division and Rs 1,572,901,000 for Climate Change Division.
Similarly, the house approved demands of grant of Rs 113,000,000,000 for Railways Division and Rs 10,552,308,000 for Housing Division.
