ISLAMABAD, Oct 08 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday announced that polling for NA-18 will take place on November 23, following the disqualification of Opposition Leader Omer Ayub Khan and the subsequent vacation of interim relief by the Peshawar High Court.
According to the official schedule, the returning officers will issue public notices on Oct 13. Candidates may submit their nomination papers from Oct 15 to 17, with the initial list of candidates being published on Oct 18.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by Oct 22. Any appeals regarding the acceptance or rejection of papers can be filed until Oct 27, with final decisions to be announced by Nov 03. Final lists of candidates will be published on Nov 04.
Candidates will then be allowed to withdraw their nomination papers on Nov 05, while the election symbols will be allotted on Nov 06. Polling will be held on Nov 23.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has finalized the appointment of senior administrative officials to supervise the electoral process in the upcoming NA-18 (Haripur) by-election.
Zeeshan Khan, District Election Commissioner Haripur, has been appointed as the District Returning Officer for NA-18.
The commission has appointed Naveed ur Rehman, District Election Commissioner Abbottabad, as the Returning Officer for NA-18. Shahid Khattak, Additional Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Haripur, and Mushtaq Ahmed, SST/ Headmaster at Government Middle School Kohala Bala, Haripur, will serve as Assistant Returning Officers.
