ISLAMABAD, Jun 26 (APP):The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Friday safely rescued all 15 passengers after a passenger van caught fire on the Murree Expressway.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, the Motorway Police immediately reached the scene after receiving information about the incident and safely evacuated all passengers from the burning vehicle.
The spokesperson said the van was travelling from Rawalpindi to Murree when it caught fire. Due to the prompt action of the Motorway Police, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Motorway Police personnel, in coordination with Rescue 1122 teams, used fire extinguishers to control the blaze and prevent the fire from spreading further.
The spokesperson said the timely and efficient operation was appreciated by the rescued passengers as well as other people present at the scene.
Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police also commended the officers who participated in the successful rescue operation for their professionalism and prompt response.
The Motorway Police urged all drivers to keep fire extinguishers in their vehicles to help deal with emergencies and minimize the risk of serious incidents.
