LAHORE, Jan 20 (APP):A special central court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a money laundering case
against former chief minister Parvez Elahi, members of his family, and other accused
until March 26, while granting Parvez Elahi a one-day exemption from personal appearance.
The case was heard by Duty Judge Naveed Ahmed, as the relevant judge, Arif Khan Niazi,
has been transferred. Parvez Elahi did not appear before the court, and his counsel submitted
an application seeking exemption from appearance for one hearing, which the court approved.
Other accused in the case appeared before the court to mark their attendance. After completing the proceedings, the court deferred further hearing until March 26.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has already submitted a challan against Parvez Elahi and others, alleging money laundering and involvement in suspicious bank transactions. Pervez Elahi has also filed an acquittal plea in the case, on which the court has sought further arguments at the next hearing.
