Mohsin Naqvi meets Sunni Tehreek Chief; reaffirms no Madrasa or Mosque to be closed

ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP):Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Chairman of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, Muhammad Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, during his visit to Karachi, Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also accompanied the interior minister.
During the meeting, the participants paid tribute to the valuable services of religious scholars and emphasized the importance of promoting religious harmony and unity across the country.
Addressing concerns circulating on social media and elsewhere, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi clarified that no madrasa or mosque will be closed, dismissing such claims as baseless propaganda.
“Islam is a religion of peace and love; there is no room for violence or unrest,” Naqvi stated, adding that religious scholars have always played a crucial role in standing up for truth and guiding society.
The interior minister said that Pakistan has entered a new phase of development and called on all citizens to play a positive role in maintaining peace and stability.
“Everyone has the right to protest within the framework of the law,” he added. “At this moment, unity is essential for Pakistan’s progress.”
Chairman of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, assured full cooperation in promoting interfaith harmony and national solidarity.
The meeting was also attended by Sunni Tehreek President Sahibzada Allama Bilal Abbas Qadri, Secretary General Sahibzada Allama Bilal Saleem Qadri, Tayyab Hussain Qadri, Abdullah Akram Qadri, Salman Qadri, Shahbaz Qadri, Imran Qadri, and Darwaish Raza Abbasi.
