ISLAMABAD, Apr 02 (APP): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi spent four consecutive hours inspecting four major development and police service projects in the federal capital as part of his ongoing public service mission.
The interior minister visited the Model Jail Islamabad, Capital Police College, and the Police Khidmat Markaz, reviewing progress and assessing facilities. He also laid the foundation stone for the Ataturk Avenue expansion project.
During his visit to the under-construction Islamabad Model Jail, Naqvi reviewed the nearly completed barracks, administration block, and boundary wall. Acting on his instructions, the first phase of the Model Jail will now be developed as a high-security prison. He directed that the training of personnel assigned to the new facility be completed by April 30.
Upon his arrival at the Capital Police College, Naqvi was presented with a formal salute by a smartly turned-out police contingent. He handed over two Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) vehicles to the Islamabad Police to strengthen operational capacity.
The minister also sought a comprehensive plan for upgrading the Capital Police College. He assigned the task of expanding training capacity from 450 to 4,000 trainees and emphasized modernizing the curriculum in line with contemporary policing needs, including the integration of AI, IT, and advanced physical training. He visited ongoing promotional training classes for DSPs and Inspectors and interacted with trainee officers about their courses and professional development.
Later, Mohsin Naqvi inspected the Police Khidmat Markaz in F-6, where he observed service delivery across various counters and interacted with citizens. Residents expressed satisfaction with the services offered at the center.
Naqvi directed authorities to further improve the system, stressing that transparency and swift service delivery at Police Khidmat Markaz remain top priority. He reiterated that the government will continue making every possible effort to enhance public-facing facilities at all levels.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, FIA Director General Dr. Usman Anwar, IG Islamabad Police, and other senior officials accompanied the interior minister during the visits.
