MoCC planted 9,84,744 plants in first 100 days

ISLAMABAD, Jan 10 (APP):The Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) under the leadership of Adviser to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam had take up various activities and actions for mitigating climate change impacts.  
According to official sources of the ministry, within the first 100 days of the adviser’s leadership of the ministry had planted 9,84,744, saplings which was taken up by the ministry on war footings which managed the country to get global acclaim for indigenous efforts mitigating climate change risk.He further said that the total number of notices issued to smoke emitting units was 3201, 730 units were sealed whereas the smoke emitting 313 brick kilns were sealed across the country.
	However, 282 First Information Reports (FIRs) lodged against burning of crop residues and stubble burning under section 144 Cr.PC (The Code of Criminal Procedure), FIRs lodged against burning of garbage, tyres, plastics etc, under section 144 Cr.PC were 245 and FIRs lodged against breaking seals of sealed units were 76, he added.
	The number of challans against smoke emitting vehicles was 18860 and Rs84,09,323 fine was imposed on smoke emitting vehicles and Rs25.5 million bank guarantee received from 40 polluters for air pollution control devices, he said. 
	The ministry had made the industrial sector install air pollution control devices (Dry Scrubber) where the devices were installed by 19 units, Wet Scrubber installed by 226 units whereas 23 units were under the process of installation of Dry Scrubber. 
	He said that the construction of a total 50 environment friendly Zig-Zag Brick Kilns was made whereas 402 cases were filed with Environmental Magistrates against the violators of polythene Bags Ordinance (PBO) where the fine imposed by Environmental Magistrates to violators of PBO was Rs3,52,700.
