Mirza inaugurates infectious disease ward, kidney transplant unit at PIMS

ISLAMABAD, May 8 (APP):Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Zafar Mirza on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed state-of-the-art infectious disease ward and Kidney Transplant Unit at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The minister also visited dialysis and Nephrology wards at hospital which have recently been renovated to ensure provision of quality medical services to the patients.
He also visited ‘Dastarkhawn’ of PIMS which is an innovative idea for provision of food in a clean and respectful manner to over 1000 visitors and attendants daily at hospital. The minister was informed that currently Iftari and Sehri are being provided to attendants and visitors by the hospital administration.
Dr Zafar Mirza appreciated the idea of constructing new waiting area by the hospital administration to facilitate the attendants.
The minister also visited Urology, Neurosurgery, ENT and Emergency departments and received inputs from the patients about the available facilities at hospital.
Addressing on the occasion, the minister said that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the government was committed to ensure provision of best medical services to the country’s people.
He said that the government was also striving towards universal health coverage in order to ensure access of quality medical facilities for all. He said that there were clear directions from the PM Imran Khan to make improvements in health sector and ensure free treatment for deserving people.
He said that the government was paying special focus on primary health care as this area remained neglected in past.
Dr Zafar Mirza alongwith Secretary Ministry of National Health Services Capt ® Zahid Saeed also held meetings with the PIMS Clinical Head of Departments, nurses, paramedical staff and representatives of Young Doctors Association.
