PESHAWAR, Jan 19 (APP):The Provincial Minister for Irrigation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Riaz Khan conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing canal cleaning operations in various areas of Peshawar.
Secretary Irrigation Abdul Basit along with other relevant officers accompanied him during the visit. On this occasion the Secretary Irrigation briefed the Provincial Minister on the progress of canal cleaning, desilting, excavation, and water flow management.
During the inspection, Provincial Minister Riaz Khan closely reviewed the accumulated waste, obstructions, and the overall cleaning process in the canals and directed the concerned authorities to further accelerate and enhance the effectiveness of the cleaning work.
He stated that delays in timely canal cleaning cause severe inconvenience to citizens, while disruptions in water flow also result in damage to agricultural lands.
While speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Riaz Khan said that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has issued clear directives that no negligence will be tolerated in resolving public issues.
He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi the provincial government is taking serious measures to ensure the provision of clean water, improve the irrigation system, and eliminate environmental pollution.
Riaz Khan further stated that canal cleaning will not only improve the water flow system but will also ensure effective delivery of water to agricultural lands, directly benefiting farmers.
The Provincial Minister directed the concerned officials to complete all cleaning work at the earliest and to ensure the implementation of an effective mechanism to prevent the re-accumulation of waste in the canals in the future.
He made it clear that negligence in performance will not be tolerated and that public welfare projects will be monitored on a continuous basis.
Expressing his resolve, Provincial Minister for Irrigation Riaz Khan said that in line with the vision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi the irrigation system across the province is being modernized to provide maximum relief to the people.
