Minister for starting joint programmes with Italian designers

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (APP): Minister for Commerce, Engineer
Khurram Dastgir Khan on Saturday called upon Italian designers
to initiate joint educational programmes with Pakistani fashion
industry to promote the local industry.
Talking to Italian Ambassador who called on him here, the
minister said that joint initiatives would help promote the
emerging fashion industry of Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design, an allied
degree awarding institution of Ministry of Commerce, was working
with prominent Italian institutions and was promoting modern
fashion education.
Talking about the conducive business environment in the
country, the minister said that operation against terrorism was
heading successfully towards its ends and as a result, incidents
of terrorism have reduced by 70 percent.
He said that due to improving law and order situation and
economic development, the country has become an attractive
destination for foreign investors.
He suggested the Ambassador for enhancing business to
business interactions and exchange of trade delegations besides
organizing exhibitions to further cement the bilateral trade
and economic relations of both the countries.
The Italian Ambassador lauded the efforts of Pakistani
government to establish peace and said that he would invite
the Italian businessmen to visit Pakistan to take advantage
of business opportunities existing in different sectors of
the economy.
He hinted at a vast scope for the consumption of goods
due to a huge middle class in the country.
The Ambassador also assured for appointing Commercial
Councilor at Karachi which would help promote bilateral
trade relations between both countries.
He said Italy was striving to export its agriculture
machinery to Pakistan to modernize the agri-sector.
