ISLAMABAD, Aug 22 (APP):Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar on Saturday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of a father and his son due to toxic gas in a sewerage line in Multan.
The Federal Minister said that safety guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) were already in place for workers engaged in sanitation and sewerage-related activities. He stressed that their effective implementation must be ensured to protect precious human lives.
Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar also contacted Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif by telephone to discuss the tragic incident.
During the conversation, the two leaders discussed the Multan tragedy and measures to ensure the safety of human lives, particularly those working in sewerage lines and other hazardous locations.
They also reviewed ways to further strengthen safety measures, ensure strict compliance with safety SOPs and provide necessary protective equipment to workers engaged in hazardous work.
The Federal Minister expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls and patience for the bereaved families.
