Ambassador of the Philippines to Pakistan Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez joined the leadership, management and staff of Maroof International Hospital (MIH) in celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day, underscoring the enduring friendship and goodwill between two countries.
MIH arranges Independence Day activities
ISLAMABAD, Aug 13 (APP): Ambassador of the Philippines to Pakistan Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez joined the leadership, management and staff of Maroof International Hospital (MIH) in celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day, underscoring the enduring friendship and goodwill between two countries.
The ambassador congratulated the Pakistani nation and appreciated MIH for its contribution to community healthcare.
He said Independence Day was not only a celebration but also a reminder of every citizen’s responsibility towards the country.
“A nation is not built in one day, it is built every day through the contributions of its people,” he said.
Chairman Maroof International Hospital Ch. Naseer Ahmad welcomed the ambassador and his delegation, describing their participation as a meaningful expression of friendship between the two countries.
He said nation-building was a shared responsibility and institutions could serve the country through professionalism, integrity and commitment to the community.
He added that healthcare institutions contributed to nation-building every day by caring for patients and improving public wellbeing.
MIH Chief Executive Officer Haroon Naseer highlighted the importance of teamwork and collective service, saying the spirit of unity demonstrated on Independence Day should be carried into the institution’s daily work.
He reaffirmed MIH’s commitment to quality healthcare, professional excellence and patient-centred services.
The programme began with the ambassador’s visit to Silver Oaks, where he toured the Early Intervention Therapy Unit (EITU) and received a briefing on specialized services for children requiring early intervention, therapy and rehabilitation.
During a meeting with senior management, the delegation was briefed on the hospital’s healthcare infrastructure, specialized services and patient-care initiatives.
The ambassador and his delegation also toured key hospital facilities, including the Blood Bank, Laboratory, Rehabilitation Department, Operation Theaters, ICU, CCU, Cath Labs, Research, Dental, Pharmacy, Radiology, Labor Room, Emergency Room, NICU and OPD.
The Independence Day ceremony commenced with the national anthems of Pakistan and the Philippines, symbolizing the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
An inter-departmental decoration competition was also held, with hospital departments decorating their areas in Pakistan’s national colours and symbols.
EITU and Radiology secured first position, Operation Rooms and Administrative Department second, while Inpatient Department and Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation secured third position.
The winning teams received cash prizes and appreciation certificates.
An appreciation shield was presented to Ambassador Fernandez by Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed, Haroon Naseer and Dr. Mir Abdul Waheed in recognition of his participation in the celebrations and contribution to strengthening Pakistan-Philippines relations.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, bringing together the diplomatic delegation and MIH community in a celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
