Member EU Parliament lauds govt efforts against terrorism

ISLAMABAD, Dec 27 (APP): Member European Parliament and Chairman Security & Defence Committee, Afzal Khan on Sunday lauded the efforts of Pakistan’s government against terrorism and to maintain peace in this region.

Expressing his views at Meet the Press program organized by National Press Club, he said that Pakistan has sacrificed a lot due to the problem of terrorism.

He said that European Union had acknowledged the efforts of Pakistani government made particularly on terrorism and restoring peace in the region.

He said that Pakistan-China Economic Corridor is a big development in this area, which, he added must be utilized for the benefit of the people.

Member EU Parliament said that Pakistan had got the status of GSP Plus, adding,there is need to work on other areas to introduce Pakistan’s products in the European markets.

He said as a member of the European Parliament and Defence Committee, he will continue his role to highlight the issues or problems of the Pakistani people settled in the European countries.

He said that efforts are being made to apprise the people of Europe about the plight of Kashmiri people living in the Indian Occupied Valley.

“Without resolving the issue of Kashmir and Palestine, the peace and development cannot be made in a proper manner, “ he said.

He appreciated the present government for working in co-ordination with Afghanistan to restore peace and development in the area.

Development, prosperity and progress link with peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

To a question, he said that France was also the victim of terrorism and all important measures are being taken to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

He said that no religion would allow terrorism or any other abhorrent activity in any part of the world.

He said that Islam is the religion of peace, adding, there is need to promote better image of the muslim community around the world.

He said that Indian Prime Minister was asked to resolve all outstanding issues with Pakistan.

He urged the Indian Prime Minister to come on the table to address the core issue of Kashmir for permanent peace in the region.

Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Movement on Self-determination in United Kingdom, Raja Najabat speaking on the occasion said that next year, a campaign on Kashmir cause would be started throughout the Europe so that issue of J&K people living under the tyranny of Indian Army would enjoy the liberty and peace without delay.
