MDCAT no longer mandatory for foreign medical admission

ISLAMABAD, Oct 05 (APP): The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has clarified that Pakistani students seeking admission to medical or dental institutions abroad will no longer be required to pass the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) as a mandatory prerequisite.
According to official sources, as per public notice issued by PM&DC on Monday, the decision was approved by the Council during its meeting held on September 14, 2026.
The notice clarified that passing MDCAT would not be a mandatory requirement for Pakistani students seeking admission to foreign medical and dental institutions, sources added.
The decision is expected to facilitate Pakistani students planning to pursue medical and dental education abroad by removing MDCAT as a prerequisite for foreign admission.
PM&DC has issued the clarification in response to requirements concerning admission of Pakistani students to medical and dental institutions outside the country.
