ISLAMABAD, Nov 21 (APP):Managing Director (MD) of the National Book Foundation (NBF), Dr Kamran Jahangir, has urged the public to visit the three-day 11th National Book Festival, scheduled to be held at Lok Virsa from November 25-27.
In an exclusive interview with APP, Dr Jahangir said the National Book Foundation has long served as an institution of knowledge and literature, committed to enlightening the nation through the power of books. To promote book culture, the Foundation consistently publishes high-quality, informative, and engaging books at affordable prices and regularly organizes both national and international book fairs. The upcoming festival, he added, is a continuation of this tradition.
“This year, the National Book Festival is being organized in collaboration with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA),” he said.
The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Read and Learn’—a Reading and Learning Festival.
Dr Jahangir explained that a diverse range of activities has been planned to attract people of all ages. These include book launches, interactive sessions with writers, poets, and artists, study circles, seminars, workshops, conferences, musical evenings, poetry recitals, a printing corner, and a variety of book stalls. Special attractions for children—such as “Come Children, Listen to a Story” and a magic show—will also be part of the festival.
“We have made every effort to make the festival vibrant and engaging while keeping public interest in view,” he remarked.
“Families, children, youth and seniors—anyone interested in knowledge, literature, and culture—will find something to enjoy. Books on nearly every major subject will be available at discounted prices, and publishers and booksellers from across Pakistan will set up stalls to facilitate readers,” he shared.
He added that alongside book shopping, visitors would be able to enjoy cultural and entertainment programs. Distinguished scholars, writers, literary figures, and artists were expected to participate.
“Eminent intellectual and literary personalities, including national representatives, federal ministers, and senior officials, will attend both the opening and closing ceremonies,” he noted. “It is my hope—and firm belief—that the public will participate in great numbers, making this festival a memorable celebration of learning and literature,” MD NBF concluded.
