Makkah defence pact a major diplomatic, strategic milestone: Danyal

ISLAMABAD, Aug 08 (APP): Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry on Saturday termed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye a major diplomatic and defence milestone for Pakistan, saying the pact reflects the three brotherly countries’ mutual trust, solidarity and resolve to stand by one another in difficult times and would contribute to regional peace, stability and security.

In a statement, Danyal Chaudhry paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their role in making the “historic” defence agreement possible.

He said the pact is not only a manifestation of unity and mutual confidence among the three countries but also a significant development for regional and global peace and stability.

The parliamentary secretary said enhanced defence cooperation among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye would help deter terrorism and forces seeking to create instability in the region.

“Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye will together emerge as a strong voice for peace and security,” he said.

Barrister Chaudhry said the agreement would play an important role in maintaining peace, stability and the balance of power in the region.

He also pointed to Indian media reports describing the agreement as an important defence pact for Pakistan, saying this reflected its strategic significance and recognition of Pakistan’s defence interests.

Federal Parliamentary Secretary said Pakistan is a nation defined by the sacrifices, resolve and courage of its martyrs, while its armed forces continued to make sacrifices for the defence of the country.

He termed the agreement a matter of pride for Pakistan and said it would further strengthen the country’s prestige, security and defence in the years ahead.
