Makkah Defence Agreement lays foundation for lasting regional peace: Tariq Fazal

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary on Sunday said the historic defence agreement signed in Makkah between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye had laid the foundation for lasting peace in the region.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 09 (APP): Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary on Sunday said the historic defence agreement signed in Makkah between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye had laid the foundation for lasting peace in the region.
Talking to the media, he congratulated the entire nation on the landmark agreement and said Pakistan’s armed forces had played a prominent role in making the accord possible through their professional expertise under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Dr Tariq also acknowledged the tireless efforts of the political team led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements that contributed to the agreement.
He said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye already enjoyed close and brotherly relations, adding that the agreement would further strengthen ties among the three countries.
Under the agreement, an aggression against any one of the three countries would be considered an aggression against all, he said.
Dr Tariq said the pact would enhance cooperation and defence relations among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.
He expressed confidence that the agreement would not only contribute to peace and stability but also improve coordination, connectivity and relations among the three countries in the coming days.
