Mainly dry weather expected across country; light rain likely in upper regions

ISLAMABAD, Mar 04 (APP): Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country on Thursday, while cold and partly cloudy conditions are likely to persist in hilly areas, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD forecast.
However, light rain-thunderstorm accompanied by light snowfall over high mountains may occur at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Day temperatures are expected to remain above normal in plain areas of the country.
In Islamabad, partly cloudy to dry weather is expected in the federal capital and adjoining areas, with chances of gusty winds during the afternoon. The daytime temperature is likely to range between 31C and 33C.
Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, mainly dry weather is forecast for most districts, while upper areas are expected to experience partly cloudy and cold conditions.
Isolated light rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over high mountains may occur in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan and Bajaur districts and adjoining areas. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 31C and 33C in plain areas, while hilly regions may record temperatures between 21C and 23C.
In Punjab, dry weather is likely to prevail in most districts, with hot conditions during the daytime.
Gusty winds are expected in plain areas during the afternoon, while partly cloudy conditions may develop in upper and central districts.
Murree and Galiyat are likely to experience partly cloudy weather with cold conditions during morning and night hours.
Day temperatures in central and southern districts are expected to remain between 32.C and 34 C.
Hot and dry weather is expected in most districts of Sindh, where daytime temperatures are likely to range between 35 C and 37 C.
In Balochistan, dry weather is forecast for most districts, while northern parts may experience cold conditions during morning and night hours.
Daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 26 C and 28 C in northern areas and between 33 C and 35 C in southern parts.
Partly cloudy weather with light rain-thunderstorm and snowfall over high mountains may occur at a few places in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
During the past 24 hours (from 05pm yesterday to 05pm today), weather remained dry in most parts of the country, while hilly areas experienced cold conditions during morning and night hours.
Daytime temperatures remained above normal in the plains.
The highest maximum temperatures recorded today were 37C in Rohri, Bahawalnagar, Mithi, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu and Hyderabad.
