In his message on World Press Freedom Day, the minister said that in the digital age, the importance of fact-based and responsible journalism has increased manifold.
He noted that journalists serve as a bridge between the state and the public, ensuring timely dissemination of information under all circumstances.
Magsi stressed that providing a safe, free, and professional working environment for journalists is a key responsibility of the state.
He highlighted that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees full protection to freedom of expression and the principles of a free press.
He also underscored the need for investigative and responsible journalism to counter fake news and negative propaganda, stating that credible reporting is essential for maintaining public confidence.
The minister urged media organizations to play a constructive role in promoting national harmony, positive thinking, and public awareness.
He lauded the services of the journalist community, acknowledging their dedication to informing the public despite challenges.
