Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Coordinator of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, on Wednesday said the longstanding issue of opening bank accounts for religious seminaries had been resolved, with banks in Islamabad beginning to open accounts for madrasas.
Madrasas’ bank account issue resolved; Ashrafi appreciates government efforts
ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP): Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Coordinator of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, on Wednesday said the longstanding issue of opening bank accounts for religious seminaries had been resolved, with banks in Islamabad beginning to open accounts for madrasas.
Expressing gratitude over the development, Ashrafi said the longstanding demand of religious seminaries had finally been addressed.
He, along with Ulema and Mashaikh of the Muttahida Madaris Council Dr. Asim Mir, Maulana Zubair Faheem, Mufti Karim Khan and Mufti Yusuf Kashmiri as well as Muttahida Jamiat Ahle Hadith Amir Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari and Wifaq-ul-Madaris wal-Jaameaat representatives Maulana Tahir Aqeel and Maulana Qasim Qasmi, visited a branch of MCB Bank to review the process of opening accounts for religious seminaries and expressed satisfaction over the progress.
Ashrafi expressed his gratitude to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, saying the progress had been made possible through their personal interest and efforts to address the longstanding issue.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Director General of Religious Education (DGRE) for facilitating the process and supporting the implementation of the decision.
