ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP): Lauding performance of Armed Forces, intelligence agencies and civil armed forces in war against terrorism, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Friday said a lot more had to be done for complete eradication of terrorism from the country.
Winding up discussing on performance of Ministry of Interior in the National Assembly, the minister said operation Zarb-e-Azb was continuing successfully and it would be taken to its logical end.
He said implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) and performance of Ministry of Interior were two different things. Efforts were made during the last two and a half years to formulate different new policies, he added.
He said when he took responsibility of the Ministry, there were 51,000 Pakistanis on the ‘black list’ and names of 10,000 were on the ECL but under the new policy, they were struck off from the list.
The Minister said International NGOs were being brought under the ambit of law and their working was being made transparent.
He said in the first two months, the process of registration of INGOs would be completed afresh, adding that so far 127 NGOs had applied for online registration.
The Minister said that only registered INGOs would be allowed to work in Pakistan.
Chaudhry Nisar told the House that under a policy, 8000 armed licenses had been declared bogus and unverified licenses would be cancelled till 31st of this month.
He said that it was for the first time that 61 proscribed organizations had been put on record. He said a data bank would be set up to record incidents of terrorism.
The Minister said under Schedule-Four, more than 8,000 people had been identified and their names had been put on the ECL and they were being monitored.
He said a strategy was being implemented to identify financiers of terrorists, adding that a new policy about security companies was also in the offing.
He said that government and Ulema have reached an agreement about registration of Madaris and syllabi. He, however,added that it was a big challenge and would take some time.
The Minister said that FATA reforms would be carried out in consultations with all the stakeholders.
He said under a policy, Pakistan did decline to receive deportees from different countries without verification including from Greece, Bulgaria and Austria.
He said letters were being written to different countries including European countries for not assessing every Pakistani with doubt in the prevailing situation.
Nisar said that illegal immigrants who were deported without proper documentation, would be sent back. The government has not barred any country from deporting illegal Pakistani immigrants, he added.
However, he said that deportee from Bulgaria, Australia and Greece who did not have required documents, were sent back. He said that no Pakistani should not be taken dubiously.
Chaudhry Nisar said dialogue process was started with Taliban under a strategy formulated in the consultation with military and political leaderships.
He said after the failure of dialogue, operation Zarb-e-Azb had been launched against terrorists with consensus of military and civilian leaderships.
He, however, said that a military operation alone could not rectify the situation and the ministry has formed a policy in this regard.
The minister said that organizations which were approved by the government, could only function in the country. The ministry also maintained a check on issuance of visas to foreigners, he added.
The Interior Minister said 15 executive NADRA centers in big cities and 73 regional passport offices were set up at district level across the country.
He said that at least 11.5 crore SIMs had been registered in the country while nine crore SIMs were blocked.
