Legal fraternity plays vital role in ensuring access to justice: Azam Tarar

ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (APP): Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar Wednesday said that the legal fraternity plays a vital role in ensuring access to justice and the effective functioning of the judicial system.

He met with separate delegations of the Islamabad Bar Council and the District Bar Association, discussing issues faced by the legal fraternity, matters relating to the legal profession, and the welfare of lawyers.

The Islamabad Bar Council delegation comprised Vice Chairman Asif Iqbal, Chairman Executive Committee Zafar Khokhar, Members Raja Aleem Khan Abbasi and Hafizullah Yaqoob. The District Bar Association delegation was led by President Naeem Gujar and included Secretary Raja Khawar Daniyal and Joint Secretary Imran Kakar.

Secretary General of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association Qasim Abbasi, Pakistan Bar Council’s Raja Rizwan Abbasi, and Prosecutor General Manzoor Ahmed Jajja also attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar said the legal fraternity plays a vital role in ensuring access to justice and the effective functioning of the judicial system.

He said the government attaches importance to maintaining effective engagement with bar councils and associations to address issues faced by lawyers and improve the legal and judicial system.

The minister said the proposals and recommendations of bar associations are important for legal and judicial reforms, and that consultation with the legal fraternity would continue.

He assured the delegations that necessary steps would be taken at the relevant forums to address issues concerning the legal community.

The meeting also discussed facilities for bar associations, the welfare of lawyers, and other matters relating to the legal profession.
