LAHORE, Jan 09 (APP):The annual elections of the Lahore Bar Association (LBA) will be held on Saturday, January 10, under a biometric voting system.
According to the election schedule, a total of 27 candidates are contesting for eight seats. As many as 15,851 registered voters are eligible to exercise their right to vote. Eleven polling booths have been set up to facilitate the polling process.
For the post of president, three candidates — Adeeb Aslam Bhinder, Shahid Jamal Butt, and Irfan Hayat Bajwa — are in the race. Five candidates, including Chaudhry M. Mushtaq, Hafiz Mushtaq Naeemi, Sheikh Kashif Ali, Mian Tahir Munir, and Humayun Zaheer Bhatti, are contesting for the vice president’s seat.
For the Vice President Model Town seat, Asif Kanwal Khan, M. Naveed Hanif Kamboh, and Kashif Siddiq Gujjar are competing, while Zahid Mahmood Gill and Imran Olakh are contesting for the Vice President Cantonment seat.
Four candidates — Chaudhry Afnan Munawar, Rizwan Arshad , Shoaib Ashraf Bhatti, and Malik Fahad Nisar Khokhar — are in the run for the post of secretary.
For the joint secretary’s seat, Asad Abbas, Sameena Basra, and Salman Raheem Khokhar are contesting, while Zohaib Khan and Yasir Nazir are competing for the post of finance secretary.
Meanwhile, Arshad Chadhar, M. Faryad Chaudhry, Sameena Khokhar, Talib Naqvi, and Nauman Ali Goraya are contesting for the library secretary’s seat. Rahila Hafeez Rana has already been elected unopposed as auditor.
Security and administrative arrangements have been finalised to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
