ISLAMABAD, Dec 16 (APP): Paying tribute to the martyrs of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar, the lawmakers from both side of aisde on Wednesday called for unity and determination to eliminate menace of terrorism from the country.
The National Assembly, soon after recitation from the Holy Quran and Naat, followed by prayers for the victims of the APS, suspended the routine agenda and started debate on ruthless attack on APS on December 16, 2014.
Naveed Qamar of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said that December 16 is observed as black-day in the country’s history due to two historic incidents including fall of Dhaka and gory attack on APS Peshawar.
He said that this day would be remembered for ever as we cannot forget the innocent martyrs, adding that attack on APS was actually attack on Pakistan’s Heart.
Naveed Qamar said this incident forged unity among the nation which joined hands to curb the menace of terrorism.
He said this House unanimously passed 21st Amendment to effectively cope with this scourge, adding terrorism, terrorists and their supporters would have to be crushed to stop recurrence of such tragic incidents.
Shaista Pavez Malik of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) said the whole nation is grieved over the sad incident.
She said that the country was facing host of problems and it was need of the hour to join hands and face these challenges with determination.
She said that PML-N leadership always took on board all the political leadership of the country on all important issues.
She said the Armed forces of the country also decided that they would not sit in peace till the elimination of last terrorist.
