KP govt should focus on providing relief to people, solving their issues
ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP):Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON and PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Engineer Amir Muqam on Saturday urged the provincial government to focus on providing relief to the people and addressing their problems rather than creating additional hardships.
He also raised questions over the postponement of the long march and called for greater focus to fight terrorism and public issues in the province.
Reacting to the statement of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, he said the people of the province had rejected what he described as the politics of chaos.
He questioned what had been delivered to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past 14 years, saying that the province continued to face terrorism and unrest while the government was focusing its energies on marches, a press release issued here said.
Amir Muqam said terrorism was the biggest issue facing the province and alleged that neither the PTI nor the provincial government had a clear agenda for effectively addressing it.
He recalled that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had repeatedly suffered suicide attacks in the past.
“Just ask thousands of families who have lost their loved ones about the pain of terrorism,” he said.
The federal minister said the police should not be used for political purposes under any circumstances. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police had rendered great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and opposed dragging the force into politics.
Referring to the October 4 call, Amir Muqam said its apparent effect would be to disrupt routine life in the province and create further difficulties for the public.
