KP Governor for constitution of tribal jirgas in merged districts

PESHAWAR, Jan 29 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman Tuesday said that Tribal Jirga representing elders should be constituted at Sub Divisional level (erstwhile FR) for consultation to resolve issues and problems there.
He expressed these views while chairing a high level meeting here at Governor House .
The meeting was attended by Secretary Home Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikramullah Khan, Principle Secretary to Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nizam-ud-Din and all Deputy Commissioners of Tribal Districts and Assistant Commissioners of Sub Divisions (erstwhile FR).The Governor said that Tribal Jirga should be legal body and represent tribal people culture and traditions.
He said the tribal Jirga would act as dispute resolution forum where problems would be resolved by elders according to norms and culture and tribal people.
He said tribal people would have right to nominate member for Jirga.
The Governor directed Deputy Commissioners Tribal districts to ascertain the number of tribes and their population at sub divisional level so that representation in the jirga could be given as per size of the tribe.
He said that people of merged districts would get all facilities like other developed cities of the country.
‘’We have to give respect to the honour and dignity of the tribal people. The whole nation acknowledge sacrifices of tribal people for motherland,”he added.
