KP cabinet approves Narcotics Control Bill 2019

KP-Govt proposes development package for budget 2021-22 under PM NAEP worth Rs309bln

MOHMAND, Apr 15 (APP):The first-ever provincial cabinet meeting with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair here Monday approved KP Narcotics Control Bill 2019 under which strict punishment have been proposed to prevent use of narcotics especially ice drugs in the province.

Briefing newsmen about the key decisions taken during Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)cabinet meeting held at Ghalanai, headquarters of Mohmand tribal district, Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai who was flanked by CM advisor on merged areas Ajmal Wazir said from two years imprisonment up to life term imprisonment besides Rs1.4million fine have been proposed under this law.

He said the government will establish narcotics control wing in Excise and Taxation Department in wake of Fata merger in KP to control narcotics smuggling besides use of illegal drugs.

The cabinet also directed starting of mass awareness campaign at large scale in educational institutions against ice drugs.

Amendments in judicial academy act 2012 regarding establishment of judicial academy endowment fund and in existing service rules of provincial ombudsman were also approved.

The cabinet also approved Rs2,000 million supplementary grant for Pak-Austria Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology.

The cabinet was told that work on administration, financial, legal and judicial issues following Fata-KP merger was underway without any hurdle and judicial officers will shift to their respective merged districts in next two to three weeks.

The CM advisor on merged districts, Ajmal Wazir said that 28,000 Khasadar and Levy personnel were merged in KP police.

The Levy and Khasadar Force employees will get all the perks and privilege as being enjoyed by KP police, he said.

Under Insaf employment scheme, he said interest free loans would be provided to tribal youth besides giving 70,000 jobs in different government departments.
