Khursheed Shah for diverting all development funds to rehabilitate quake-victims

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP): Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah Tuesday urged the government to impose emergency in earthquake-hit areas, stopped development projects and divert all development funds to rehabilitate the quake victims.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said mercury has dropped to minus and snow fall multiplied the suffering of the quake-victims of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla and other areas. He said the people were still shelter less and they were facing the harsh weather.
Khursheed Shah alleged that neither the provincial nor the federal governments were paying attention to resolve their problems.
He said Internally Displaced People (IDPs) have been residing at camps in Bannu for the last two year but no planning was made for their safe return to native areas.
He said the people were looking towards government assistance.
He said the opposition was also ready to help the government in mitigating the suffering of the quake-victims.
Earlier, speaking on point of order, Kazim Shah of PML-F demanded that army should be deployed in 2nd phase of local bodies election. He alleged that systematic rigging was carried out in first phase and it should be declared null and void.
He said that 11 activists of PML-F were killed in the elections and the case should be referred to the military court.
Dr Nafeesa Shah said the PPPP had strongly condemned the Khairpur tragedy and asked for setting up a judicial commission to probe the sad incident. She said stern punishment should be given to people involved in this heinous act.
Dr Fehmida Mirza alleged the provincial government for pre-poll rigging in the 2nd phase of LG elections. She said provincial machinery was being used to rig the elections in Badin district.
She alleged that she has evidence about the rigging and would be shared with the Election Commission of Pakistan and members of this august House.
