ISLAMABAD, Feb 09 (APP): Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik’s wife, Mushaal Hussein Mullick while addressing a public gathering here in Islamabad said that India is systematically enforcing repression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir through the use of laws, courts and prisons, warning that despite decades of coercion, the Kashmiri struggle for freedom remains unbroken.
Speaking at the event, Mushaal Malik said that the execution of Afzal Guru after what she termed a controversial and one sided trial and the continued refusal to hand over his body to his family even after 13 years stands as one of the starkest examples of Indian state brutality.
She said the denial of his remains was not only an act of cruelty but a symbol of collective punishment inflicted upon Kashmiris.
She further alleged that the Kashmiri leadership, particularly Yasin Malik, is being deliberately targeted through fabricated cases, prolonged incarceration, solitary confinement and inhuman treatment in an attempt to silence the voice of resistance.
However, she maintained that such tactics have failed to weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people.
Mushaal Malik said that the presence of over one million Indian troops, along with draconian laws and an expanding prison system, has been unable to suppress the demand for freedom.
“A voice can be imprisoned, but an idea cannot,” she said, asserting that Yasin Malik’s ideology continues to inspire Kashmiris despite his detention on what she described as political vendetta.
She stressed that Kashmir is not merely a territorial dispute but a question of survival and the future of coming generations, adding that the oppression of Kashmiri leadership reflects India’s fear of the freedom movement.
According to her, the Kashmir struggle has now entered a decisive phase and will continue under all circumstances until its logical conclusion.
