RAWALPINDI, July 18 (APP): Long March from Lahore to Islamabad would be organized on July 19 to express solidarity with Kashmiris and to protest against the killings of innocent Kashmiris by Indian security forces in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
This was stated by Convener Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Abdullah Gul son of Gen.(r) Hamid Gul, Rawalpindi Traders Association leader Sharjeel Mir, Jamiat-e-Islami District Ameer Shamsur Rahman Swati, leader of Jamaat ud Dawa Abdul Rehman and others while addressing a press conference here on Monday.
They informed that the long march would start after Zohar prayer from Masjid Suhada Lahore which after passing through G.T.Road would reach Serena Hotel, Islamabad via Rawalpindi on July 20 at 3 pm where Chief of Jamaat ud Dawah Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Jamiat-e-Islami Chief Siraj ul Haq and others would address the participants.
They urged the citizens and Kashmiris to participate in the Long March to make it a great success. The real aims of the Long March is to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir and to draw attention of the international community towards Kashmir issue, displaying that this struggle would continue till the independence of Kashmir.
People belonging to various segments of society including political parties and other important dignitaries would come out on the streets of all big cities on G.T.Road and participate in the Long March to express solidarity with the citizens of Indian-held Kashmir in their decades-long struggle for the right of self-determination, protesting against the human rights violations by Indian troops in the Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Abdullah Gul said, Pakistani nation would continue to provide support to Kashmiris in their just struggle for self-determination. Pakistanis are steadfastly stand by Kashmiris against Indian oppression, he added.
He said that the Kashmiris were fighting for their freedom and emphasised that Indian hostility would further strengthen their resolve.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi said, over 700,000 Indian security forces in the disputed region could not suppress the Kashmiri’s movement for their right of self-determination, adding Pakistani nation and Kashmiris of AJK would continue to play its role in awakening the conscience of the international community.
Shamsur Rehman Swati urged upon the United Nations to fulfill its unfinished agenda’ on Kashmir and ensure provision of right to self-determination to Kashmiris.
He said that calling the Kashmir freedom movement terrorism was sheer dishonesty on part of India.
