ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):Federal Minister for Health, Syed Mustafa Kamal has visited National Institute of Health (NIH) and received briefing on the working of National Health Data Centre.
Federal Secretary Health Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh was also present on the occasion. The minister was briefed by CEO, NIH Dr. Muhammad Salman on the working of the Centre and different data streams in the country currently available to Pakistan’s health system.
The minister directed that the NIH should on fast-track basis establish a Health Complaint Management Cell wherein health-related complaints from across Pakistan could be received, and data should trickle down to the provinces and districts for necessary action.
He said currently different streams of data meant that we are working in silos. He said NIH should become the nerve centre for all health-related information in the country.
He said that a command and control system at the institute should be responsive to complaint from any nook and corner of the country. This data will cover all diseases across the country and will be of critical importance for policy making, the minister said.
