Jinnah Express train to reach Karachi within 15 hours: Minister

LAHORE, Mar 30 (APP):Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad Saturday said the Jinnah Express was a non-stop train and it would reach Karachi within 15 hours.
He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Jinnah Express train at Lahore Railway station here.
He said four categories had been made in Jinnah Express
one of Rs 1350, second Rs 3200, third Rs 4500/5000 and fourth
of Rs 6500. He said various facilities had been provided in
the train which includes wifi, complementary meals, accessories
kits and others.
The minister said that in 70 years, out of 8,400 KM
railway track, 1000 KM track had been finished while another
1000 KM track was non-functional.
He said freight trains had been increased from 8 to 14
and with the grace of Allah Almighty they would be increased
up to 20 while passenger trains would also be increased
up to 40.
The minister said railway land worth billion of rupees had
been retrieved besides commercial property in Karachi Circular
Railway (KCR).
Passengers had increased by 25 to 30 percent and occupancy
in trains were over 100 percent, he added.
He said that in one month Sir Syed train would be made
functional. The minister said Golra Museum had also been
established.
Sheikh Rashid said Main-Line 1 project would be completed
with in three phases. He said 4 steam engine trains had been
handed over to the Kyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government so that
tourism could be promoted.
He said rail tracking system had been started to enable
the people to track trains’ position.
He said efforts were being made to bring maximum
improvement in Pakistan railways.
