Japanese delegation briefed on Pakistan’s peaceful neighbourhood policy
PM to highlight HR violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir at UNGA

ISLAMABAD, Aug 16 (APP): A high level Japanese delegation on
Tuesday was briefed about Pakistan’s peaceful neighbourhood policy and the regional situation.

During the fifth Round of Pakistan Japan Security Dialogue (Politico Military Dialogue) held here, the Additional Foreign Secretary (Asia Pacific) Syed Zulfiqar Gardezi briefed the Japanese delegation.

They were briefed about Pakistan’s peaceful neighbourhood policy including Afghanistan, India and the adverse human rights situation in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK).

The Japanese delegation was headed by Ambassador Kazuya Nashida, Director General Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, said a press release.

The two sides discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

The cordial Pak Japan ties and the potential for greater economic cooperation were also highlighted.

Views were exchanged on Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and contribution to UN peace keeping operations.

Later Ambassador Nashida accompanied by Takashi Kurai, Ambassador
of Japan to Pakistan, called on Adviser to the Prime Minister on
Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.

Following the talks at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Japanese delegation held the second segment of the dialogue relating to Military to Military talks at the Ministry of Defence.

The Politico Military Dialogue between Pakistan and Japan is an important forum for exchange of views on a broad range of issues of
mutual interest.

The next round of these talks is likely to be held in Japan.
