ISLAMABAD, Mar 6 (APP):Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono Wednesday said Japan welcomed Pakistan’s gesture of releasing the Indian Air Force pilot and stressed that dialogue was important to stabilize the ongoing situation.

In a telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Japanese Foreign Minister requested both Pakistan and India to maintain self-restraint and stabilize the situation through dialogue, a statement by Japan’s embassy in Islamabad said.

Foreign Minister Qureshi apprised his Japanese counterpart about Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism and its efforts to resume dialogue with India.

“Both Ministers shared views on the importance of counter-measures against terrorism,” the statement added.
