ITP unveils major traffic diversion plan for Independence Day celebrations at H-8
ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for Independence Day celebrations at Yadgar-e-Fatah, H-8, announcing major road closures and alternate routes for August 13, while entry of heavy traffic into federal capital will remain completely banned from midnight on August 12 until midnight on August 14.
An ITP official told APP on Wednesday that the special arrangements had been made to facilitate citizens and regulate traffic during the Independence Day celebrations. Motorists were advised to plan their journeys in advance and use the designated alternate routes.
Diversion 1 — Koral Chowk to Khayaban Chowk
The Islamabad Expressway and Faisal Avenue from Koral Chowk towards Khayaban Chowk will remain closed to traffic in both directions.
Motorists entering Islamabad from Rawat GT Road and Koral Expressway should take the Khanna Pul loop and use Lehtrar Road, Park Road, Rawal Dam Chowk, Murree Road, Serena Hotel, Suhrawardy Road, Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road.
Traffic travelling from Khayaban Chowk towards Koral and Rawat should use Jinnah Avenue, 9th Avenue, Double Road, Murree Road Rawalpindi, Rawal Road and Old Airport Road.
Diversion 2 — Faizabad and Expressway Links
The Faizabad loop towards Faisal Avenue, Faizabad loop towards Expressway, Faizabad Ojri loop towards Expressway and links from Rawal Dam towards Faizabad will remain closed to traffic.
Motorists travelling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad should use 9th Avenue and Jinnah Avenue, or travel via Murree Road and Rawal Dam Chowk.
Those travelling from Rawalpindi towards Koral via Expressway should use Rawal Road and Old Airport Road.
Traffic heading from Rawalpindi towards Murree and Bhara Kahu should use Faizabad, Murree Road, Rawal Dam Chowk and Kashmir Chowk.
Diversion 3 — Roads Leading to Yadgar-e-Fatah, H-8
Roads from Garden Flyover on the I-8 side, Faiz Ahmed Faiz Road, Mir Chakar Road, Judicial Academy and Mir Zafarullah Road towards Yadgar-e-Fatah, H-8 will remain closed to traffic.
Residents of I-8 and H-8 travelling towards Islamabad should use I-8 Markaz, 9th Avenue and Jinnah Avenue.
Those travelling towards Rawalpindi should use 9th Avenue, IJP Road, Double Road and Murree Road.
Diversion 4 — Garden/Shakarparian towards I-8
The road from Garden/Shakarparian towards I-8 and Faisal Avenue will remain completely closed.
Motorists travelling towards I-8 should use 7th Avenue, Jinnah Avenue and 9th Avenue.
Diversion 5 — Chand Tara T-Cross/Garden Avenue
Garden Avenue from Chand Tara T-Cross towards Shakarparian will remain completely closed to traffic.
Motorists should use 7th Avenue or Murree Road as alternate routes.
Diversion 6 — Peshawar Road/Srinagar Highway
Srinagar Highway from Peshawar Road towards Koriyanwala Chowk will remain closed to traffic in both directions.
Motorists entering the city from Islamabad Chowk via Srinagar Highway should use the Peshawar Mor Flyover, 9th Avenue, Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road.
Traffic travelling from Murree and Bhara Kahu towards Islamabad should use Murree Road, Serena Hotel, Suhrawardy Road and Jinnah Avenue.
Motorists travelling from Bhara Kahu, Murree or Islamabad towards Rawalpindi should use Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road, Captain Naeem Tufail Shaheed Chowk, Lehtrar Road, Khanna and Islamabad Expressway.
Passengers travelling towards Islamabad International Airport should use Margalla Road, Jinnah Avenue, Peshawar Mor Flyover, Srinagar Highway and Iran Avenue.
Emergency Routes for Hospitals and Ambulances
For Shifa International Hospital, ambulances and other emergency traffic should use 9th Avenue and Colonel Sher Khan Road.
For Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), emergency traffic should use Jinnah Avenue, 9th Avenue, Ibn-e-Sina Road and Margalla Road.
For Polyclinic and CDA Hospital, motorists should use Jinnah Avenue, 7th Avenue, Margalla Road, Shaheed-e-Millat Road and Fazl-e-Haq Road.
The official urged citizens to use the designated alternate routes during the traffic restrictions and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
