ITP penalizes 2,349 drivers in one week

ISLAMABAD, Jul 28 (APP): Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) penalized 2,349 vehicles and motorcycles during the past week over various traffic violations, including lane violations, fancy number plates, and driving without helmets. Of these, 1,655 motorcycles and 694 vehicles were impounded and shifted to police stations.

A police spokesperson told APP that 805 drivers were fined for lane violations, 114 for driving without a license, and 872 for illegal parking. Additionally, 872 motorists were penalized for driving in the wrong direction.

He said enforcement also included 1,325 violations related to fancy number plates, 1,077 signal violations, and 1,522 cases of riding without helmets.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (Retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider directed traffic officials to continue indiscriminate operations under the ongoing campaign, enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy for traffic violations.
“No one should be allowed to drive without a valid license,” the CTO stated, urging the public to cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure road safety.
