ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Hamzah Humayun held a meeting with Motorway Police Sector Commander Murree, SP Adeel Shehzad, to discuss traffic arrangements for Murree Expressway, GT Road and adjoining routes during the snowfall season.
A police spokesperson told APP on Tuesday that the meeting focused on ensuring smooth traffic flow, enhancing coordination between field teams, and facilitating citizens travelling towards Murree and surrounding areas.
During the meeting, both officers reviewed the expected increase in traffic due to snowfall and winter tourism, and agreed on a joint strategy to prevent congestion, manage road closures, and ensure timely assistance to motorists.

The spokesperson said the plan includes deployment of additional traffic personnel on Murree Expressway, quick-response teams at choke points, and continuous monitoring of traffic through control rooms. Special emphasis was placed on assisting families, tourists and elderly travellers.
CTO Hamzah Humayun said the primary objective is to provide maximum convenience to citizens and ensure their safe travel during the winter season.
He added that ITP teams will remain active round-the-clock and will work closely with Motorway Police to manage any emergency situation.
SP Adeel Shehzad also reiterated Motorway Police’s full cooperation, stating that coordinated efforts would help maintain steady traffic flow despite seasonal pressure.
Islamabad Traffic Police advised citizens to follow travel guidelines, check weather alerts before leaving, and avoid unnecessary travel in extreme snowfall.
