Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Wednesday issued a traffic management plan for the 8th Muharram procession travelling from the PWD area to Sector G-9 and advised commuters to use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
ITP issues traffic plan for 8th Muharram procession from PWD to G-9

ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Wednesday issued a traffic management plan for the 8th Muharram procession travelling from the PWD area to Sector G-9 and advised commuters to use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
An ITP official told APP that the procession would commence after Zuhr prayers from Jamia Al-Murtaza and proceed via Rohtas Road, Khyber Chowk PWD, Service Road South, RDFC Chowk, Outside Service Road West and G-9 before concluding at Imambargah Imam Sadiq in Sector G-9/2.
The official said special traffic arrangements had been put in place to facilitate mourners and maintain smooth traffic flow along and around the procession route.
According to the traffic plan, traffic diversions would be implemented at the following points during the procession:
– Zulfiqar Chowk Khokha Turn
– Project Mor
– G-9 Turn on Kashmir Highway
– G-10/4 Double Road
– G-10/3-4 Chowk
– Street No. 16, G-9/2
– Street No. 11 (Tanki), G-9/2
– Karam Road between Sectors G-9/1 and G-9/2
Residents of G-8 and G-9 travelling towards Tarnol and the Motorway have been advised to use Kashmir Highway as an alternate route.
Similarly, residents of G-10 and G-11 may use Ibn-e-Sina Road to access Faisal Avenue via G-7 and G-8.
The official said commuters travelling towards Bhara Kahu and Murree should use Jinnah Avenue, Faisal Avenue and Express Highway to avoid delays.
Citizens were requested to cooperate with traffic police personnel and use alternate routes during the procession to help maintain smooth traffic flow.
Participants in the procession were advised to park their vehicles and motorcycles only in designated parking areas.
