ISLAMABAD, Dec 07 (APP): Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Sunday issued a special traffic advisory for commuters, warning of unusually high traffic volumes on several major highways on December 8 (11 a.m.–12 p.m.) and December 9 (9 p.m.–10 p.m.).
An ITP spokesperson told APP that traffic flow is expected to remain heavy on Faisal Avenue, Islamabad Expressway, and Srinagar Highway during these hours. Citizens have been advised to use alternate routes and avoid unnecessary travel.
The spokesperson added that Express Chowk and Marriott Gate leading into the Red Zone will remain closed. For entry into the Red Zone, motorists should use Serena Road, NADRA Road, or Margalla Road.
Alternate Routes Suggested by ITP:
• Rawalpindi to Islamabad commuters: use Rawal Road, 9th Avenue, Faqueer Aipee Road, or Srinagar Highway.
• Islamabad to Rawalpindi commuters: use Zero Point and Srinagar Highway to 9th Avenue.
• Commuters coming from Murree and Bharakahu: use Korang Road, Bani Gala route, Park Road, or Lehtrar Road.
ITP said traffic personnel will be deployed across key points for guidance. Citizens may stay updated through ITP Radio 92.4 FM and the official Islamabad Police social media pages.
