ITP issue challans to drivers using cell phones

ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (APP): The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued challans to over 500 drivers including motorcyclists during last month for using cell phones while driving as it diverts their concentration.
The spokesperson of traffic police told APP that the drivers were advised to fully focus on driving adding that they did not only put their own life on risk by using cell phones during driving, but also affected the concentration of others with wrong driving which sometimes caused accidents.
The minor and fatal accidents were mostly the result of such driving practices in which negligence of the drivers was involved,he said.
According to the traffic police, around 70 to 90 percent people were issued challans for using cell phones while driving. The traffic police also warned people through various campaigns for
following traffic rules.The spokesperson said “according to the code No 21, traffic police challaned number of motorists in a month by imposing fine of 500 rupees on drivers and Rs 300 on motorcyclists adding that such motorists were monitored on regular basis.
