Isolated thunderstorms expected in multiple regions on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD, May 06 (APP):The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly hot and partly cloudy weather across most parts of the country on Wednesday.
However, rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southeastern Sindh, and the Potohar region during the evening and night hours.
In the federal capital, Islamabad, partly cloudy weather is expected with a 35 percent chance of rain-wind/thunderstorm in the evening or night, which may provide brief relief from the prevailing heat.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the weather will remain hot and dry across most districts. However, areas including Dir, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Kohat, Waziristan, and Kurram are expected to witness partly cloudy skies with chances of rain-wind/thunderstorm during the evening or night.
Punjab is also expected to remain hot and dry in most districts. Nonetheless, there are chances of rain-wind/thunderstorm at isolated places in the Potohar region, Murree, Galiyat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, and surrounding areas during the afternoon. In addition, Layyah, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, and Rajanpur may also receive rain-wind/thunderstorms later in the day.
In Sindh, the majority of districts will experience hot and dry weather. However, southeastern areas including Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Sajawal, and surrounding localities are likely to receive rain-wind/thunderstorms.
Balochistan is expected to remain mainly dry, but isolated rain-wind/thunderstorms may occur in parts of Zhob, Musakhel, Khuzdar, Lasbella, and Panjgur.
In Kashmir, cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorms is expected during the afternoon, while Gilgit-Baltistan is likely to remain partly cloudy but dry.
According to the PMD, hot and dry weather dominated most parts of the country during the past 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred at isolated locations in Sindh, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southern Balochistan, and Kashmir.
Rainfall during the last 24 hours was recorded as follows: In Sindh, Mithi received 18 millimeters of rain while Badin recorded 11 millimeters. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malam Jabba received 12 millimeters and Kakul 2 millimeters. In Kashmir, Rawalakot and Muzaffarabad City each recorded 1 millimeter of rainfall.
The highest recorded temperatures included 43 C in Nokkundi, 41C in Dalbandin and Jacobabad, and 40 C in Chhor, Dadu, Lasbella, and Sibbi.
The Met Office has advised citizens to take precautions against heat exposure and to stay updated on local weather alerts, particularly in areas where thunderstorms are expected.
