Islamabad promotes green mobility as 300 cyclists join CDA championship

ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP):Around 300 cyclists participated in a cycling championship organised in Islamabad on Sunday by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) as part of efforts to promote green mobility and healthy recreational activities in the federal capital.
The event, held at D-Chowk and along the adjacent Jinnah Avenue area, was organised in collaboration with Allied Bank Limited. It attracted cycling enthusiasts and citizens from across the city, reflecting growing public interest in environmentally friendly transport and fitness activities.

Competitions were held in multiple categories, including Open Men, Open Women, Senior Men, Senior Women, Under-16 and Under-9, ensuring participation across different age groups and genders under established standard operating procedures.
Several officials and dignitaries attended the championship as special guests, including CDA Member Finance Tahir Naeem, the district magistrate of Islamabad, senior police officials, sports authorities and representatives of the business community. Members of the national women’s cricket team also participated in the activity.
Participants appreciated the initiative and urged authorities to continue organising similar events regularly to encourage healthy lifestyles and sustainable urban mobility.

Speaking on the occasion, MCI Chief Officer Dr Anam Fatima said the championship reflected CDA and MCI’s commitment to promoting green mobility awareness in urban areas.
She added that providing healthy recreational opportunities for Islamabad’s residents remained a priority, and similar activities would continue in the future.
