
ISLAMABAD, Sep 10 (APP):A high level mission from Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) called on Minister for National Health Services Aamer Mehmood Kiani here on Monday and discussed polio eradication situation in the country.
The mission was led by Dr El Bashier Sallam Lead Global Management, and included Dr Aman Ullah Khan and Inam Ullah, the country representative Islamic Development bank.
The minister affirmed strong commitment of the government to eradicating polio and thanked the mission for the critical support the bank is providing to the health sector in Pakistan, especially towards polio eradication, mother and child healthcare and 15 mobile health clinics.
The minister acknowledged financial support for polio eradication programme amounting to USD 327 million from 2012–2018 for the first two phases.
The mission shared that after negotiating with government, for the third phase till 2021, IsDB will now be providing an additional USD 100 million, which will support government efforts to eradicate polio through enhanced surveillance, timely procurement of polio vaccine and advocacy, thereby improving the health of children.
