Iranian media delegation visits PEMRA Headquarters

ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP): Iranian media delegation of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) visits Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Headquarters here on Wednesday and discussed areas of mutual interest.
The delegation comprised Dr. Ahmad Norouzi, Deputy Managing Director of the IRIB, Head of IRIB’s World Service Affairs, Dr. Abbas Mohammadnejad, Director General of International Affairs of the IRIB, Morteza Shamsi, Director of Sahar Global Network and Dr. Ali Mohammadi Nafchi, the IRIB General Manager of the Sistan and Baluchistan Center, Iran.
The media delegation was briefed about media regulation and function of PEMRA by executive members of the authority.  The purpose of the authority was highlighted to improve the standard of information, authenticity of news, and tolerance in the society. It also ensures transparency, accountability and good governance in the country.
The delegation was also, apprised on PEMRA’s eligibility criteria for license to broadcast operators, terms and conditions for license, code of conduct for media organizations, enforcement powers of the authority, council of complaints, power of suspend, and the rating criteria of television channels etc.
 Dr. Ahmad Norouzi, Deputy Managing Director of the IRIB has highlighted the role and function of the IRIB and its local and regional services. He said that the IRIB is the main pillar and leading media organization of Iran.
